We love this plane.The Firebird XL Commander has flown well every time in our record.
We bought the drop module with the plane and have really had a ball with dropping
things from the sky.It's just a great fun pretending to be a bomber pilot.
We have successfully flown the firebird xl commandermany times,and every time we
fly it,we just seem to want more!If winds are more than 5 to 6 mph,be sure not to
fly it.
We have crashed our firebird xl couple times,but it takes a licking,and keeps on going.
We followed the instructions to fly it without any help.It glides very well,and is a very
elegant flyer for such a low-end model.But you do need a lot of space,and the small
control surfaces and 2-channel control system means you can only do wide turns,and
no aerobatics.

Firebird XL Tips
We have some tips that might help you keep your fire bird xl rc plane flying after a crash,
because you are going to crash sooner or later if you are new.If you take a hard hit
into the ground nose first,the engine mount may not hold,causing the engine to break
free and shift forward inside the plane.If the engine shifts too far,it could damage the
electronics.
Proper thrust line balancing can also become a problem,causing the plane to fly to the
left or the right.We suggest you make a minor modification to the engine mount prior
to first flight.This modification is easily done,first,carefully drill two holes about 1/2"
apart on either side of the body,just behind and centered on the motor and put a 6"
nylon tie wrap there.This will hold the body tight to the motor and it will prevent the
motor from shifting backward.The key here is to place the tie wrap so that it will sit
either against the motor or just behind it,so that,under stress,the tie wrap will prevent
the motor from moving which could either distort the motor mount area or cause it
pull through totally.
The Firebird XL is a great plane for players with minimum age of 12 or older.It really
gives a lot of fun to about anyone.
